In case of divorce or separation the parents of a child can make an agreement on child custody, child support and visitation of the child. The parents may have either joint custody or the child may be assigned solely to the mother's or father's custody.

The parent with whom the child does not live any more has the responsibility to support the child financially and he or she has the right to visit and meet with the child regularly.

In case you are not able to reach an agreement on the child custody, child support and child visitation issues you have the right to take the case to the court and ask the court to give and order on the said issues.

The court order regarding child custody, child support and visitation can later be changed if you feel that the changed conditions so require. DIVISION OF PROPERTY

In Finland the basic rule is that both spouses have a right to a share of 50% of the spouses assets. This means, that for example if the other spouse alone owns 100% of the spouses property, the other spouse who owns nothing has the right to claim 50% of the other spouse's property.
